Service mark registration now available


As of 9 October 2026, Suriname allows the registration of service marks in Nice classes 35–45 for the first time. Previously, protection was limited to trademarks for goods. Owners of existing registrations and pending applications may extend their protection to service classes while retaining their original filing or registration date. This one-time option is available until 8 July 2027 and requires proof of use for the relevant services. Official IP fees are also expected to increase shortly
