Stricter enforcement of trade mark renewals


The Registrar General of Intellectual Property Administration in Sudan has reinstated strict enforcement of the six-month grace period for trademark renewals under Article 19(3) of the Trade Marks Act, 1969.

This policy shift ends years of lenient administrative practices that previously allowed late renewals without penalties or even accepted renewals beyond the statutory grace period.
