New e-service for TM registration confirmations launched


The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) has introduced a new online service that allows users to obtain a real-time extract of active trademark registrations from the Canadian Trademark Register.

The new “Confirmation of Trademark Registration” e-service is available for both national and Protocol registrations. Users can generate a PDF document directly in their browser, which may then be downloaded and saved. The document will not be stored in the Trademark Document Retrieval Service.

Access to the service is free, but users must have an active “My ISED Account / My Canada Business Account.” The service is available to any user, including those outside Canada, and does not require the requester to be the registered owner or appointed Canadian trademark agent.
