Transitional Rules for Industrial Design Examination


On May 19, 2026, the BPTO published Ordinance No. 69/2026, introducing transitional rules for the examination of industrial design applications.

Pending applications filed up to December 1, 2023 may be examined under the first edition of the Industrial Design Manual if the current rules could prejudice the claimed protection.

The transitional regime also applies to pending responses to office actions, provided the technical office action was issued while the first edition of the Manual was still in force.
