Electronic trademark publications resumed

The Commercial Registry Department in Libya has resumed the electronic publication of trademarks through its official website after a temporary suspension.

A new batch of approximately 500 trademark applications, covering publication numbers 55261 to 57597, is now available for public inspection via the Commercial Registry Authority Trademark Portal. The portal currently allows searches by trademark name only, while further technical updates remain in progress.

The statutory opposition period for newly published trademarks in Libya is 30 days from the official publication date. Rights holders are therefore advised to review the newly published applications promptly to identify any potential conflicts.

Although the resumption of online publication is a positive development, some administrative uncertainties remain. The authorities have not yet clarified the procedure or schedule for future publication batches. In addition, a formal response is still awaited regarding previously filed applications that remain unpublished, particularly those that have entered or are approaching the renewal stage.
